Meet the CinnaTeam

At CinnaMoms, we are committed to supporting, encouraging, and creating a welcoming space for Black/African American families on their breastfeeding and parenthood journey.
Founded in 2015, our mission began with increasing breastfeeding support among Black Women within PHFE WIC. This mission turned into a movement as we developed culturally congruent breastfeeding and parenthood support circles that go beyond WIC services at nine of our original CinnaMoms Sites located within PHFE WIC Offices in LA County. Our in-person CinnaMoms Support Circles provided Black mothers a safe space to discuss historical feeding practices, cultural traditions, family experiences—all while fostering community and connection.
When the pandemic hit, our dedicated facilitators—most of whom are Certified Lactation Educators and Lactation Consultants—kept the love going with virtual support circles, proving that nothing can stop this community from thriving. Guided by our participants’’ feedback, we were reminded of how special gathering in person is. We’ve grown, we’ve adapted, and we’ve listened, and turned our support into a hybrid model, offering both virtual and in person support. We have created CinnaMoms Crenshaw, a dedicated WIC center on Obama Blvd and Crenshaw. This space allows moms to Nest, Rest, and Connect while accessing essential support services.
Special thanks to Rhonda Clayton, CLE, our Breastfeeding Project Specialist for creating the name to our extraordinary program CinnaMoms, we are grateful for her vision and dedication to our mission.
