And big things to come to CinnaMoms in 2023!
What and Why is CinnaMoms?
As a frequent attendee and honorary CinnaMoms, I can objectively say it is a place of community love, and support. Every meeting beginning with a warm and welcoming voice, demonstrating that every gathering is a new experience, a new opportunity to make connections and make new old friends.

Kicking off January with an open house, we were divided into smaller breakout rooms where started talking about support and how we define it. To some, it was words of encouragement. For others, it was simply checking in with mom on how she was doing (everyone focuses so much on the new babies, while mothers are left feeling forgotten). We talked about requesting ready-made meals to store in freezers, instead of flowers and teddy bears, making it so much easier to feed our families when juggling sleepless nights and new babies. Most importantly, we talked about moms, giving themselves time, to care for themselves.
When offered help, we almost automatically respond with "I'm good," but you should never be afraid to specifically ask for what you need, when you need it. After all, they are already offering.
Dance Time with Kelsey
A significant part of our mental health, is physical. Not only in the nutritional sense, but in that exercise we may never have time for, nor the energy. And how can we stay active while pregnant? It does depend on the pregnancy, but we were lucky enough to have one of the newest additions to the CinnaMoms family, Kelsy, lead us in a dance tutorial.
Kelsey, a long time CinnaMoms participant, has recently crossed over as a WIC-CinnaMoms Project Specialist , and had all of us, pregnant and nonpregnant alike, shaking our tail-feathers in a heart pumping choreo.
Question Forum
Our gathering came to a close, with the last half hour being opened to questions on: rebuilding milk supply, specialized support services, managing breastfeeding while pumping and experiencing pain. These questions were answered by Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultants, Registered Dietitians, and Peer Counselors, all with many years of experience helping families overcoming obstacles, with love and devotion to their craft.
And that is CinnaMoms, so I invite you to come and see it for yourself, you will not regret it.
